Description
During early spring, the Walking Fish Pottery Bird Feeders for Fruit offer essential nutrition for birds as they arrive after migrating, and begin nest building and egg production. Certain species, such as Orioles, prefer fruit over seeds, with orange slices and grape jelly being particular favorites. Additional fruits include:
- diced fresh fruit, such as apples and melons
- grapes
- berries
- rehydrated dried fruit, such as raisins or currants
Our ceramic feeder is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. Simply hang it from a tree branch or shepherd’s hook, place a fruit slice on the copper skewer, then watch our feathered friends as they visit. You could also add jelly to the bowl. Should ants be attracted to the jelly, they can provide supplemental protein.
For optimal safety, position the feeder at least five feet above ground level and away from shrubs that may conceal predators.
Other fruit-loving friends may include:
- Cardinals
- Grosbeaks
- Waxwings
- Catbirds
- Mockingbirds
- Tanagers
- Towhees
As with all handmade pottery, minor variations may exist in shape, size, and color. This makes each piece special, a “one-of-a-kind.”
